Back in December 2019, Eastbourne Lodge were notified about Codie Murphy, a local student with mobility issues. After hearing how moving on to College would be incredibly difficult, the lodge decided to purchase an electric wheelchair to assist her. In her own words “Its my dream to be like any other teenager and go to college and be with my friends”. Codie has now had the wheelchair a year and it has changed her life as she is not reliant upon her family and has gained independence.Whilst at a lodge meeting Worshipful Brother Ivan Biddle (Pictured below) of Eastbourne and Langport lodges was moved by Codie’s story and organised a laptop computer to assist her in her studies. Recently Ivan spoke with Codie who told him “thank you so much for the extremely generous gift of a laptop. I am especially enjoying finding lots of songs. After a nasty fall I found some relaxing music to help manage my pain. I feel truly privileged to have received such amazing gifts, thank you so much.”
